Dorothy Hyuha graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a Diploma in, (Bachelor of Science/Editor) from in 1985. She went on to obtain the degree of Master of (Master of Education), also from Makerere University in 1995.
Currently she is Minister Without Portfolio in the Ugandan Cabinet. She is also the Women"s Representative for Butaleja District in the Ugandan Parliament, a position she has held since 2006. She has held that position since.
She was appointed to her present cabinet post in February 2009.
She is of the Anglican faith. She is the Chairperson of the Mothers" Union, in Bunyole Archdeaconry in Bukedi Diocese, a post she has held since 2001.
She has special interest in rural development, Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, women empowerment and gender issues. Dorothy Hyuha sits on the following parliamentary committees:

In 2006, after Butaleja District was carved out of Tororo District in 2005, Dorothy Hyuha contested for the parliamentary seat of Women"s Representative for Butalehja District, on the National Resistance Movement party ticket. She is a member of the National Resistance Movement political party.
Dorothy Hyuha was first elected to the Uganda Parliament in 1996, as the Member of Parliament (Member of Parliament), for Tororo District, a post she held until 2006.
