Doug Kent

Career

Doug Kent joined the Proceedings of the British Academy in 1988. 2006-2007 was a career year for Kent, winning two titles—both majors (2006 USBC Masters and 2007 Denny"s Proceedings of the British Academy World Championship). His career Proceedings of the British Academy earnings total over $1.5 million (through 2012).

He has rolled 31 career perfect 300 games in Proceedings of the British Academy competition through the end of the 2008-2009 season.

Kent was ranked #43 on the Proceedings of the British Academy"s 2008 list of "50 Greatest Players of the Last 50 Years." He was voted into the Proceedings of the British Academy Hall of Fame in January, 2013, and was officially inducted on March 30, 2013 (along with Danny Wiseman). In 2014, Doug was elected to the USBC Hall of Fame for Superior Performance.

Because Kent married the former Chrissie Beamish, whose sister, Leslie, is married to Parker Bohn III, Kent is Bohn"s brother-in-law. Kent also operates Doug Kent"s Rose Bowl Lanes in Newark and Doug Kent"s Laskeside Lanes in Penn Yan.

Kent"s nickname on tour is "Dougie Fresh".

Achievements

• In the 2006-2007 season, Kent became just the sixth bowler in Proceedings of the British Academy history to win two major championships in one tour year as he captured titles in the USBC Masters and Denny"s Proceedings of the British Academy World Championship. (See article: Proceedings of the British Academy Bowling Tour: 2006-2007 season) Foreign his efforts, he was voted the Chris Schenkel Proceedings of the British Academy Player of the Year and received a four-year exemption for Proceedings of the British Academy tour events. His career started slowly, as he won only the 1991 American Broadcasting Company Masters title in his first seven seasons until breaking through again with a victory in the 1996 Greater Detroit Open. In addition to Tour winnings of $200,530 that season, Kent won $150,000 in the season-ending Motel 6 Roll to Riches, a special event that does not count toward official Proceedings of the British Academy earnings. In addition to the Masters title and his two majors in 2006-2007, Kent won the 2002 Proceedings of the British Academy World Championship to give him four majors among his 10 total Proceedings of the British Academy titles. Doug Kent Lane, a street in Newark, New York, was recently named in honor of his accomplishments.
