Doug McKeon was one of the biggest child stars of the 1970s and early 1980s, the years he began his career. His characters included Dirk in The Silent Eye (1974), Timmy in Tell Me My Name (1977), Peter in Daddy, I Don't Like It Like This (1978), Michael in The Comeback Kid (1980), Scott Cameron in Desperate Lives (1982), Harry Woodward in An Innocent Love (1982), and others.
McKeon continued to act as an adult and also wrote and directed the film The Boys of Sunset Ridge. This movie covers sixty years in the lives of four boyhood friends, played by actors Ronny Cox, Burt Young, John Heard, and Pat Morita, who meet every year at the Sunset Ridge Country Club to play a game of golf and catch up on each other's lives.
He was an actor in films, including Uncle Joe Shannon, On Golden Pond, Mischief, Turnaround, Deadly Illusion, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Empty Mirror, Courting Courtney, Critical Mass, Heart of a Champion: The Ray Mancini Story, Norman Rockwell's Breaking Home Ties, Without Consent, and Rocket's Red Glare. He acted in television series, including The Edge of Night and Big Shamus, Little Shamus, in television miniseries, including Centennial, At Mother's Request, and From the Earth to the Moon. He also appeared in Battle of the Network Stars XVIII as CBS team member. In 1974 he also acted in stage productions, including Dandelion Wine and Truckwood.
Doug McKeon is known as an actor with over forty-five years of experience in theater, television, and feature films. His best-known role was as Jane Fonda's son in the 1981 film On Golden Pond. McKeon received much recognition for his acting. He was listed as a notable actor by Marquis Who's Who.
