Douglas W. Nelson has chosen to examine the results of one of the most universally condemned actions of the United States government: the evacuation, incarceration and relocation of the West Coast Japanese Americans. Awarded the 1974 Logmark Prize by the University of Wisconsin History Dept., Nelson has given us the first detailed and objective analysis of the internal life of an American concentration camp, an analysis that focuses not on administrative procedures or on economic relationships, but on the lives of human beings who were forced to live there from 1942 to 1945. With a six page bibliography, and index.
