Maurizio Rossi is an Italian lawyer born in Rome in 1956. He was a partner of Studio Legale Ardito, one of the first international law firms established in Italy, and in 1994 he founded Rossi e Associati in Rome. He was admitted to the Italian bar in 1983 and qualified to practise before the Supreme Court in 2005.
Background
Maurizio Rossi was born in Rome on March 8, 1956. Rome has been the home of Sapienza University since its founding in 1303, and he later pursued his legal education at that institution.
Rome remained the base of his legal career. His professional work also took him to the Ardito firm's offices in Milan and London during his years as a partner.
Education
Rossi earned a J.D. degree in Law from La Sapienza University of Rome, graduating in 1978 with the grade of 110/110 cum laude. The university was founded in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII as a studium for ecclesiastical studies, and it is the oldest of Rome's three public universities.
The Faculty of Law traces its tradition to the university's origins. Its heyday came after 1870, when it became one of the prominent centers for the study of law in unified Italy.
Career
Rossi served as an assistant on the Private Law course held by Professor Natalino Irti. He was admitted to the Italian bar in 1983, the qualification required to practise as a lawyer in Italy.
While a partner of Studio Legale Ardito, Rossi gained national and international experience in its offices in Rome, Milan, and London. The firm was one of the first international law firms established in Italy, and its multi-city structure reflected that international orientation.
Rossi developed expertise in contract law, supporting companies in the automotive and petroleum industries both in court and out of court. He also gained experience in restructuring, transfers of undertakings, family law, and inheritance law.
In 1994 he founded the law firm Rossi e Associati – Studio Legale in Rome. The firm practices in company and corporate law, intellectual property, insolvency, labour law, product liability, family and inheritance law, and contract and tort law, and it also has an office in Milan.
In 2005 Rossi became qualified to practise before the Court of Cassation, Italy's highest court of ordinary jurisdiction.
