Long advocated recognition of Russian Soviet Republic. Associate with Clarence Darrow for the defense in evolution trial in Tennessee which was prosecuted by William Jennings Bryan. In co-operation with Captain William H. Staton, founder of Association Against the Prohibition Amendment, made first national speaking coast to coast tour for the repeal of prohibition.
