Was instrumental in securing armistice, at request of Baron Fava of Italy, with President McKinley which resulted in declaration of peace between United States and Spain.
Proposed plan for Government Control Bank, with regional bankers, before Committee on Banking Currency, 59th Congress, 1907, which was the genesis of the Federal Reserve System.
