Dwijendra Lal Roy was one of the great Bengali dramatist, poet, writer and performer.
Background
Dwijendra lal Roy was conceived in Krishnanagar, Nadia, in cutting edge Indian condition of West Bengal, on July 19, 1863. He was the seventh offspring of Kartikeyachandra Roy, Dewan (Chief Officer) of Krishnanagar royal residence. His mom was a relative of Vaishnava austere Advaita Acharya. He had six senior siblings and a more youthful sister. His father, Kartikeya Chandra Roy, was the dewan. His mother, Prasannamayee Devi, was a relative of Adwaita Prabhu. He had one younger sister and six elder brothers.
Education
Dwijendralal Ray passed the Entrance Examination in 1878 and First Arts Examination in 1880 from Krishnanagar Collegiate School. Later he passed B.A. from Hooghly College and passed M.A. in English in 1884 from Presidency College, Calcutta, as a graduating understudy of the University of Calcutta. Being a splendid understudy, he got grant in Entrance and First Arts and stood second in M.A.
Roy passed the examination from the Cirencester College and was selected as an individual from the Royal Agricultural College and the Royal Agricultural Society.
Career
Dwijendralal's first gathering of tunes, Aryagatha, was distributed in 1882 with one hundred and eight tunes, all made before the age out of seventeen. The subjects of these melodies are the excellence of nature, a sentimental anguish, dedication to God and patriotism. The tunes gathered in the second a portion of Aryagatha, distributed in 1893, incorporate a few affection tunes, kept in touch with his better half, Surabala Devi. Some of these tunes are formed in kirtan style. Some of these tunes join western tunes with Bangla verses. Amongst many of his works two songs, one is 'kemane tui re Jamuna pulin' and another 'jao jetha jash achhe' was inspired by a Scottish music and Irish music respectively.
He was delegated the First Inspector of the Excise Department in 1894, the Assistant Director, Land Records and Agriculture Department in 1898 and the Assistant to the Commissioner, Excise Department in 1900. Later again he was selected Inspector of Excise Department. Surabala Devi passed on in 1903. In 1905, Roy was exchanged to Khulna. Later he served at Jahanabad, Kandi, Gaya and Murshidabad and many more. In 1908, he took long leave to stay in Calcutta. One year from now, he was selected Deputy Magistrate of 24 Parganas. In 1912, he was exchanged to Bankura and inside three months he was again exchanged to Munger where he fallen truly sick and because of this disease he took deliberate retirement and came back to Calcutta. Around the same time, Roy began altering a diary named Bharatbarsha. However, he didn't live over two months after his retirement. He passed on of a sudden assault of epilepsy on May 17, 1913.
He was known additionally for his dedication to the upliftment of ladies, and his solid position against Hindu religious universality and custom. His accumulation Hanshir Gaan was a parody against upper-position Hindu strength of religious practices.
Politics
