1915 graduated Physico-Mathematical Faculty, Petrograd University.
Specialist on complex compounds. Discovered phenomenon of change in the rotation sign of the light polarization plane in optically active amino compounds of tetravalent platinum upon their conversion into amido or imido compounds. Studied oxidation reactions of complex platinum compounds.
Studied reduction reactions of iridium compounds by means of various sugars and proved that the nitro group is bonded with platinum via nitrogen. 1933-1943 corresponding member, USSR Academy of Science. Since 1918 at Institute for the Study of Platinum.
1918-1932 Assistant, 1932-1935 Professor, and Head, Chair of Inorganic Chemistry, Leningrad University. 1934-1941 associate, Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, USSR Academy of Science. 1935-1941 Professor, Moscow Institute of Petroleum Industry.
