He studied mechanical drawing and engineering at Michigan State College.
After a period of architectural training he worked in the office of Edwin Bowd of Lansing, established practice for himself there under the name of Mead & White. He was better know, however, during later years in Harbor Springs where he carried on work until the time of his decease, designing public and business structures such as the Methodist Episcopal Church, 1910; Public Library, 1907-08; High School, 1913; State Savings Bank, 1909, and the Carnegie Bank. Mr. Mead was also architect of buildings on the estate of Robert Graham in Conway, Mich., 1926, and designed many fine residences in Harbor Springs and other locations in the state.
