Swift, Eben was born on May 11, 1854 in Fort Chadbourne, Texas, United States. Son of Ebenezer (surgeon United States of America) and Sarah Edwards (Capers) Swift.

Education

Student Racine College (Wisconsin), Washington University, Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1876.

Career

Commissioned Second lieutenant 14th Infantry, 1876. Promoted through grades to brigadier general regular army, September 30, 1916. Served as major general N.A., 1917-1918.

Retired, May 11, 1918. Promoted to rank of major general, retired.

Membership

Served in Indian campaigns, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, Idaho, Colorado, against Sioux, Cheyenne, Bannock and Ute Indians.
