Eda Saburo was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1907.
In 1930 he left a commercial college without graduating to take active part in the farmer movement and was soon appointed a member of the central executive committee of the National Farmers Party and later was elected to Okayama Prefectural Assembly. His political activities were brought to a temporary halt when he was arrested in connection with the people’s front movement (1938). After his release he went to Formosa where he engaged in the water supply business. After World War II returned to Japan and once again joined the Japan Farmers Party and was elected to the House of Councillors on a Socialist ticket.
