Mr. Blair went to New York to enter Columbia University as a student in architecture. On the completion of a two-year course (1897-99) the young man continued his training in draftsmanship in New York.
In 1904 began his career in Baltimore. There he joined the office of Baldwin & Pennington, the firm being busy on reconstruction work at that time following the great fire which swept the business part of the city.
Mr. Blair had been in Seattle since about 1909, known as a specialist in School Design. For several years he served as the City Architect, and is credited with the design of many schools, including the Franklin High, 1912; the Ballard High, 1914, and the West Seattle High in 1917, also about thirty of the city's grade schools.
