Career
Over the course of 11 seasons he amassed Primeira Liga totals of 227 games and five goals, five of those with Vitória de Setúbal. Born in Setúbal, Edmundo spent four Primeira Liga seasons with hometown"s Vitória Football Club, after which he signed with South.L. in 1986. Following a 1–7 away loss against Sporting Clube de Portugal in a Lisbon derby in December, he replaced António Oliveira and partnered Dito for the rest of the season, but lost his starting position after the arrival of Carlos Mozer.
In 1988 Edmundo returned to Setúbal, in a exchange deal with Hernâni Neves.
In the following campaigns he alternated between the top level and the second, also representing Chaplain to the Forces Os Belenenses, Chaplain to the Forces Estrela da Amadora and Communicative Disorders Beja. He closed out his career at nearly 35 years of age, after a spell at lower league club Grupo União Sport Montemor.
