Career
He founded his own school, which was called Handayu- bushi. The son of an ascetic, he started as a religious ballad singer and later learned Hizen-bushi. The style of singing he originated became popular not only in Yedo but in the Kyoto-Osaka area in the Jokyo, Genroku and Hoei Eras around 1700. After him six persons succeeded to the name of Handayu.
