Background
Edouard was born in 1939 Kiev, Ukraina in a Jewish family transformed from WWI misery and after-WWI anti-semitic destruction to the social importance of military men. His father died in the first year of WWI as commander of the battalion, two oncles died in the same war in infantry and military aviation. The Mother, the grandfather, the grandmother, and he himself was evacuated before the occupation of Kiev by Germans and thus saved from Holocaust, as a family of an officer in trenches.
