Changed profession several times, working as a labourer, warder, and even as a fisherman. In 1954, moved to the town of Tarusa, where many artists and writers lived. Started painting at that time.
Met George Costakis, and the avant-garde Russian artists at his home-museum. His first solo exhibition of over 50 pictures was held in Moscow in 1978, and attracted much attention. Invited to exhibit in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the USA and Sweden.
Took part in the Hermitage exhibition in Moscow, 1987. A major exhibition of his work was held at the Claude Bernard Gallery, Paris, 1988.
