Nicol, Eduardo was born on December 18, 1907 in Barcelona.
Since 1940, Professor of Philosophy, National Autonomous University of Mexico.
(Fondo de Cultura Económica. México. 1965. 21 cm. 510 p., ...)
Nicol was one of a group of Spanish philosophers exiled after the fall of Republican Spain who went to Mexico. He founded two philosophical journals. Filosofía y letras (1941) and Diánoia (1954). With Eduardo García Maynez, Nicol founded the Centro de Estudios Filosóficos at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He was named Doctor honoris causa by the University of Barcelona in 1984. In his book of 1961, Nicol identified a paradox in José Vasconcelos's concept of the ‘cosmic race’ by noting that indigenismo and negritude are racial concepts put forth as worthy of special attention at the same time as Vasconcelos holds the ideal of purging racial consciousness from society.
