Sir Edward "Eddy" Betham Beetham Knight Commander of the Order of Street Michael and Saint George Commander of the Royal Victorian Order Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was a British colonial official who was Resident Commissioner of Swaziland 1946-1950 and of the Bechuanaland Protectorate 1950-1953.
Career
He was Governor of the Windward Islands 1953-1955 and Governor of Trinidad and Tobago 1955-1960, where he presided over the transition to elected internal self-government. Beetham was the last British colonial governor of Trinidad and Tobago. The Beetham Highway in Portuguese of Spain is named after him.
