Mr. Hemmings left for the west coast early in the 1900's, and after a few years of practice in San Francisco, in 1907 settled at Sacramento. In a later period he was associated with George C. Sellon, and in 1923, shortly before his death, established a joint office with Leonard F. Starks.
Several public and commercial buildings in Sacramento were among the works on which Mr. Hemmings was associated, including the original building of the Sacramento Hotel, with additions in 1912; and the Nathan Mercantile Building. Independently he designed the Chamber of Commerce Building and the new Elks Club.
In 1923 Edward C. Hemmings established a joint office with Leonard F. Starks.
