Commissioned Second lieutenant C.A.C., United States Army, January 1912. Transferred to Chemical Warfare Service as major, 1926, advanced through the grades to brigadier general, September 1943. Served in Philippines.

Returned to the United States during World War I, served as instructor in Field Artillery School. Served with Army of Occupation. With Department of Army General Staff, Superior Ge., Log.

Division, chemical warfare advisory to commanding general and staff, Air Forces, retired 1950. With Chemical Construction Corporation, New York City.
