Williams, Edward Adams was born on March 26, 1826. 2nd son of Henry Williams of Glasthule, Company Dublin, whose ancestor settled at Rath Kool when William III. earned on a successful campaign in Ireland. His mother, nte Esther McClure, was a descendant of two Huguenot families, de la Cherois and Crommeline, who were invited by William III. to settle in Company Antrim and improve the damask manufactures.
Education
Studied at Trinity College, Dublin. Master of Arts.
Career
Ordained by Bishop of Worcester. Served in His Majesty’s Ship Saint George in the Baltic in 1854, and in His Majesty’s Ship Hawke in 1855, and was present in the attack on the Forts in the Gulf of Riga. Chaplain R. North., 1854.
Served with Pearl’s Naval Brigade in Indian Mutiny, 1857-1859 (despatches).
