Worked in his father’s saw-mill near Cleveland, Ohio, 1850-1856. Afterward, with a brother, operated saw-mill at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Esteablished, 1860, a plant in Memphis, Tennessee, to manufacturer brick from dry clay under hydraulic pressure, but breaking out of the war caused the business to be suspended.
Later he started in same line at Saint Louis.
Afterward consolidated his plant with others in the same line all over United States as the Hydraulic-Press Brick Company, of which he is president Home: Redlands, California.
Married Cordelia Seavey, September 7, 1860.
