Griffin, Edward Dorr was born on January 6, 1770 in East Haddam, Connecticut, United States. Son of George and Eve (Dorr) G.: graduated from Yale, 1790.

Doctor of Divinity, Union College, 1808.

Career

Studied theology under Jonathan Edwards (the younger), who instilled a revival sense. Ordained to ministry Congregational Church, 1794. Professor pulpit eloquence Adnover Theological Seminary, 1809-1811, a founder American Bible Society.

Active in United Foreign Mission Society. President Williams College, 1821-1836, largely responsible for saving it from financial disaster, Author: Lectures in Park Street Church, 1813.
