Served in 0th Battalion The Rifle Brigade, Longford Militia, 1887-1891. Entered army, 1891; Captain, 1899. Served South Africa, 1899-1902 (despatches, medal, 4 clasps, Companion of the Distinguished Service Order).
Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1900. The Bulls; fifth son of late Reverend West. R. Finch-Hatton and Agnes, sister of Sir Percy Oxenden.
