Career

Built and operated tanneries, Two Rivers, Wisconsin, 1846-1854. Banker and realtor, 1854-1861. Established Reliance Iron Works, Milwaukee, 1861, expanded to largest industrial plant in Midwest, produced machinery for flour mill roller process, also Corliss engine.

Unsuccessful candidate for government Wisconsin, 1877.
