Senior Member of the firm of Solomon & Thomson, and subsequently of the tirm of Solomon, Hull, Webber, & Wentzel.
Retired in 1905; formed the Responsible Government Association, to secure responsible government for the Transvaal. Became its President, and when that form of government was granted, then formed the Transvaal National Association.
Was its president for three years. Returned as Member for Fordsburg in the Transvaal Parliament.
Held the Portfolio of Minister of Public Works in the Botha Ministry.
