Studied at King’s College Cambridge England Declamation Prize, 1871. Queen’s Prizeman, South Kensington Studentship at R. A. 1874. Doctor of Laws.
Barrister 1877; President Hardwicke Debating Society, 1881. Honourable Secretary Social and Political Education League, 1879-1884. Official Examiner to High Court of Justice, 1884-1885.
Partner Weymouth Old Bank, 1885-1895. Contested S. Dorset, 1891 and 1892. Hereford City, 1895; Mayor of Dorchester, 1891.
Sheritf of Cornwall, 1896. Chairman Dorset Asylums Committee, 1890-1897. Was pioneer of the small holdings movement, and created many at Rew in Dorset.
Has travelled a good deal in S. America and Africa. Paints, and generally is fond of art. Director of Nyassa Chartered Company, North-West Uruguay Ry. etc. Justice of the Peace, D.L.
