Edward Thomas Peltzer III, American Oceanographer, geochemist. Achievements include being the first to measure extra-terrestrial Alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acids in meteorites; developed technique for measuring trace levels of phyto-lipids and waxes in atmospheric aerosols; co-developed automated system for measuring sea-surface pCO2 whileunderway; developed instrument for shipboard measurment of dissolvedand total organic carbon in seawater.
