Dunlavy, Edwin Wesley was born on June 25, 1874 in near Greencastle, Indiana, United States. Son of Howard Houston and Hannah Elizabeth (Oliver) Dunlavy.


Bachelor of Arts, DePauw University, 1900, Doctor of Divinity, from same university, 1920. State and interstate orator of Western colleges, 1900. Special research work in sociology.

Chicago Training School. Student Boston University School of Theology 2 years, special work in science, Massachusetts Institute Technology during same period.


Associated with Men and Religion Movement in the Colleges. Licensed Methodist Episcopal ministry, 1897. Pastor Trinity Church, Crawfordsville, Indiana, 1903-1906, 1st Church, Danville, 1906-1909, 1st Church, Terre Haute, 1909-1911, Trinity Church, Lafayette, 1911-1916, 1st Church, Frankfort, 1916-1921—all in Indiana.

President Iliff School of Theology, Denver, 1921-1924. Pastor Roberts Park Church, Indianapolis, known as Mother of Churches,” 1924-1930, Woodlawn Park Church, Chicago, 1930-1933. On sabbatical leave of absence, 1933.
