He completed his basic training in the Architectural School at the University of Pennsylvania.
In his youth he entered the office of the late Charles Kirchoff as an architectural student.
Returning to Milwaukee Mr. Kuenzli began his career with the firm of Charlton, Gilbert & Dewey, and following the retirement of two of the partners, maintained an office in association with Mr. Charlton until that elder architect retired in 1917. Two years later he joined Mr. Herbst in partnership, and for more than twenty years carried on practice under the firm name of Herbst & Kuenzli. During that period Mr. Kuenzli devoted most of his time to ecclesastical work, designing St. Sebastian's Church in Milwaukee and buildings for other congregations. After retiring in 1942 he spent his remaining years in Wauwatona, Wis.
A member of the Wisconsin Chapter, A.I.A. for nearly fifty years, he served as State Regional Director of the American Institute during a long period, and throughout his long career sought in every way possible to further the best interests of the architectural profession.
