Beginning as a student-draftsman in the office of Plant & Whitney, he continued to work there several years, and following Mr. Plant's death was associated for a time with the late William C. Whitney.
In 1891 Mr. Overmire entered into partnership with George W. Orth (Uvermire & Orth) and carried on work in that association throughout his remaining years. The firm was active in designing various public buildinqs in Minneapolis, of which the most important probably were the Asbury Methodist Church, the Asbury Methodist Hospital, and the C. M. Pond office building, his last executed commission.
