Bachelor of Laws, Asbury (now De Pauw) U., Indiana, 1857. (Doctor of Laws, Wabash College, Indiana, 1892). Admitted to bar, 1858, and began practice at Rensselaer, Indiana.

Career

Served as First lieutenant Company G, 9th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, April-July 1861. Captain Company A, 87th Indiana Infantry and major and lieutenant colonel same regiment, 1862-1865. Resumed law practice, 1865.

Judge 30th circuit, Indiana, 1873-1883, 1890-1892. Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Indiana, 1883-1885. Member Stuart, Hammond & Simms, Lafayette, Indiana.
