Egashira Haruki was born in Nagasaki Prefecture.
He graduatied from Tokyo Higher Technical School.
After graduating he joined the services of the Konishi Photography-Professional School (now Tokyo College of Photography). He was noted as being the first to succeed in manufacturing chlorobromide printing paper in this country. Later achieved fame with his development of color transcription paper. He was a chief of the research department of Konishi Roku Photo Industrial Company.
