From the age of four studied Nagauta, under Tetsukiye Matsunaga and then under Jokan Kineya. Began taking lessons in koto from her father when she was nine years old and upon her father's death (1940).
A doyen in the Yamadaryu koto circles. She was director of Sankyoku (Three Instruments) Association, Yamadaryu Koto Music Association and president of Shochokai Musical Association.
