Entered Shipping Department of Mitsui Bussan Kaisha (Mitsui & Company) and became vice-chief of that department (1942). When the Shipping Department was separated from the company and became Mitsui Sempaku Kaisha (Shipping Company) was appointed its managing director (1942). Became chairman and then director of Otaru Chapter of Sempaku Uneikai (Shipping Management Association), president of Mitsui Kinkai Risen Kaisha (Coastal Service Steamship Company) and auditor of Baba Risen Kaisha (1946) and president of Kyodo Kaiun Kaisha (Marine Transport Company) (1947). When Fuji Steamship Company was established as result of amalgamation of the three affiliated companies became auditor (1953).
