Education
He studied Buddhism in China before he came to Japan in 625 in the reign of Empress Suiko, the first female ruler of Japan.
Career
Founder of the Sanron Sect in Japan. During a drought, he successfully prayed for a rainfall and was made the abbot of the Gangoji Temple in Yamato Province (Nara Prefecture). He later lived in the Inoueji Temple.
