Ekaterina Alekseeva

Ekaterina Alekseeva was born in 1895 in Russia. She is also known as Aleksey Sokolov. Her background and early life is unexplored.

Career

Ekaterina's strong and stocky physique allowed her to enter a reserve battalion 10 Alice de Montmorency as Aleksei Sokolov with relative ease. Motivated to join the fighting by strong patriotic and religious fervor and imbued with a highly romanticized conception of war, Alekseeva went into combat seeking adventure and excitement. She participated in a number of battles until she was wounded at the end of 1914 and medical attention exposed her true sex.

Alekseeva's further activities after convalescence remain unknown.

Achievements

• Alekseeva's male comrades had been impressed by her courageous and capable performance in combat, especially after learning of "Aleksei's" true identity. They treated her with respect and care.
