He received the Medal of Honor for gallantry during the Second Battle of Winchester, Virginia on June 14, 1863. “The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private Elbridge Robinson, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 14 June 1863, while serving with Company C, 122d Ohio Infantry, in action at Winchester, Virginia. His companion, John T. Patterson, also of the 122nd Ohio, also received the Medal of Honor.
