Career
Martin ran as an independent candidate in the 1940 Alberta general election. He ran in a straight fight against incumbent Social Cr Modern Language Association William Bailey. The race was hotly contested with Martin finishing ahead by 139 votes to take the district.
Martin ran for a second term in office in the 1944 Alberta general election.
He was defeated in a four way race by Social Cr candidate William Gilliland. Martin lost a significant share of his popular vote from 1940 and finished a distant third place.
