In 1954 she graduated with honours from Leningrad Polytechnical Institute, the Faculty of Economics.
Then she worked as a junior and senior scientist researcher in the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute, and as an acting head of a department in the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences. In 1982 she defended her doctorate thesis “Salary and Principles of its Determination”. In 1982 – 1996 she worked as a professor in a department, a deputy of the dean for scientific work in the Institute of Further Training of Teachers of Social Sciences of the BSU. In 1992 – 1996 Eleonora Alekseevna Lotukhina was a head of a department in the Institute of Management, Economics and Finances, and from 1994 she worked as a professor of the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
She is the author of more than 130 scientific works and textbooks. The results of her research were published in the main business magazines of the USSR, i.e. Voprosy Ekonomiki, Ekonomicheskie Nauki, Vestnik Statistiki. And her monograph “Salary: Principles and Problems of its Determination” was translated into Japanese and was published with the author’s note in Japan in 1985. Lotukhina Eleonora Alekseevna actively participated in training of highly-qualified specialists. More than 10 people earned their Candidate Degree in Economics under her guidance, and a number of them earned their PhDs (e.g. professor of the BSU V. V. Kozlovski).
Specific character of the Institute of Further Training demanded a great number of special courses and organization of annual scientific conferences. In this institute E. A. Lotukhina made the most emphasis on preparation and editing of textbooks and manuals in Economics.
