Reid attended the Pittsburgh Penguins" rookie camp in 2008 before being returned to their ECHL affiliate in Wheeling for the 2008-2009 ECHL season.
Reid"s professional career saw him primarily in the ECHL, where he began playing with the Elmira Jackals in 2007. After one season with the Jackals, Reid was traded to the Wheeling Nailers for forward Steve McJannet. He led all Nailers defensemen with 13 goals and earned a spot in the ECHL All-Star game.
After one season with the Nailers, Reid signed with the Florida Everblades for the 2009-2010 season.
During the season, he was called up to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League for 9 games. He remained with the Everblades during the 2010-2011 season, but missed the majority of the season due to injuries.
During the 2011-2012 season, he spent time with the Kalamazoo Wings and was recalled by the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. After three seasons with the Wings, including the 2013-2014 season, as team captain, Reid left as a free agent and in order to move closer to home, signed a one-year contract with fellow ECHL club, the Brampton Beast on October 7, 2014.
