Cheney, alternately referred to as a Republican strategist, a political commentator or, in recognition of her duties during the Bush administration, a former State Department official, launched a new group, Keep America Safe, with the singular purpose of assailing President Barack Obama for distancing the country from those Bush-era policies that the Cheneys insist prevented a second terrorist attack on America.
Elizabeth Cheney was appointed the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State For Near Eastern Affairs and Coordinator for Broader Middle East and North Africa Initiatives. In this position, Cheney coordinated United States multilateral efforts to promote and support democracy, expanded education and economic opportunities in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
She is a co-founder of Keep America Safe.
