Elizaveta Vasilievna Aladyina was born presumably in 1810 in Riga, Latvia. She was the daughter of a poor civil servant.

After her family moved to Saint Petersburg, at the request of an influential relative, at the age of nine she was enrolled in the Istitute for Noble Maidens ("House of industriousness", later the Elizabethan Institute), from which she graduated at 17.
Career
In 1834 Elizaveta Vasilievna wrote "Memoirs of the Boarding Schoolgirl" (signed as El.Al. reprinted in 1846 in "the Nevsky Almanac" by Aladyin) about the Institute for Noble Maidens where she used to study. In 1838 the collection of poems was released.
