Background
Slenker, Elmina Drake was born on December 23, 1827 in Louisiana Grange, New York, United States. Daughter of Thomas Drake (a Quaker preacher, who was expelled from the ministry for heresy, and became a Freethinker, as did his daughter) and Eliza (Pinkham) Drake.
