Career
Agar served in the British Army and took part in the Peninsular War. He retired as major of the Life Guards and worked then in the department of the Treasurer of the Navy. Having stood unsuccessfully for Sudbury already in 1806, he entered the British House of Commons for it in the following year and represented the constituency until the general election of 1812, when he lost his seat.
