Emilien Gauthier complete grade 12 in Sudbury in the early sixties in order to move up in his job searches. He also took several courses to get ahead in his future.
Emilien Gauthier was a man who went out and got things done. He started working as a lumberjack as a teen off the farm, then he joined the Air Force to serve the last few years of WWII. He became a miner for many years, then became a transport driver.
A poor upbringing in Ontario made Emilien want to get out in the world to find work at an early age. He joined the Canadian Air Force for the remaining few years of the war. He spent those years in the war transporting medical help and bring back any injured soldiers. This was done via ships from the U.S. which were constantly being attacked by enemy submarines. It was very dangerous. He married a year before the end of the war and returned to Sudbury Ontario to start a new life. Emile was a miner in Ontario for most of his life. He became a transport driver in his late years. He retired in Elliot Lake Ontario with his wife Antoinette. He bought a small house and after several good years he became ill and passed away shortly afterward. He was 83 years old. God bless him.
