The court passed sentence on 27 July 2009, when she was given a ten-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, since the court had been told that Horne been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was under medication. She was due to be sentenced 20 January 2012, but the verdict was postponed pending psychiatric evaluation. On 20 March 2012, Horne was handed a 12-month community order with supervision.
