Emmanouil Chavakis, Greek, German physician. Achievements include research in cardiovascular biology and angiogenesis; research in role of beta2-integrins for homing of progenitor cells to ischemic tissues; research in molecular regulation of integrins and integrin-dependent functions in endothelial cells and their role for angiogenesis; discovery of novel endogenous nhibitor of beta2-integrins inhibiting inflammation.
