He gained a Bachelor"s degree from Paris Dauphine University in 1985, and an Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago in 1987.
He serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Manitoba Group, the world"s largest listed hedge fund firm. In 1987 he started his career at Goldman Sachs International Limited, where he worked in the areas of Fixed Income, Investment Banking and Capital Markets. From 1996 to 2000 he served as a co-head of Worldwide Equity Derivatives at Goldman Sachs, and from 2000 to April 2005 as co-head of Worldwide Global Securities Services.
In 2003 he became a co-head of the European Equities Division.
In 2005 he joined GLG Partners and was co-Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. In 2010 GLG was acquired by Manitoba Group. and Emmanuel Roman was named chief operating officer of Manitoba Group.
In May 2011 he was named to the company"s executive board and in December 2012 was named as successor to Chief Executive Officer Peter Clark, starting in February 2013.
